Showcase: Melanie Bailey

Melanie's work came close to selling out at the CCS Senior Thesis show in photo this year. Her diptychs of portraits and landscapes are not only visually stunning, but comment on and explore the relationships that we as humans form with our surroundings. Her statement is in the form of a quote, below. Melanie can be reached at melanie-bailey@hotmail.com.

Humans are tuned for relationship. The eyes, the skin, the tongue, ears, and nostrils- are all gates where our body receives the nourishment of otherness. This landscape of shadowed voices, these feathered bodies and antlers and tumbling streams- these breathing shapes are our family, the beings with whom we are engaged, with whom we struggle and suffer and celebrate.
